Hello
We are getting married in Spain next Summer and would really appreciate ANY help at all!
I am struggling big time with dresses for myself and bridesmaids, suits for him, and like everything. We have a really good package, €50 per head for 4 course meal and free flowing drinks all night, and thankfully my parents are paying for that anyway.
I dont know what to do about flowers, have decided I want purple fans as favours for the ladies and maybe cigars in purple boxes for the boys?? I think cigars are traditional in Spain!
Help me, please!

What kind of budget do you have for your dress and the BMs? Monsoon and Coast have lovely light maxi/grecian style wedding dresses for around £200 or designers like Maggie Sottero have Destinations collections which are made to be lighter for weddings abroad. I'm getting married in the Domincan and have gone with a Maggie dress as it is so loose and floaty but still very bridal.
I got my BM dress from Coast, again it is nice and light so my BM won't melt in the heat! Another Destination bride called SexyMouse has opted for the Asda pink BM dress and is impressed with it so may be worth a look if you fancy pink? What colours are you thinking?
I can't really help with suits as our wedding party are just wearing light trousers and white linen shirts!
Do you fancy artificial flowers or fresh? Are you booking the wedding through a travel agent or a wedding planner who can help you source a florist?Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
My budget for my dress can be no more than £500. And thats the absolute highest I can spend! I would really love one of the alfred angelo dresses, that have colour in the back but they are too pricy. My colours are ivory and purple. There is only 1 bridal shop here that stocks maggie and the owner is horrible so on point of principle I cannot go to that shop. My bridesmaids are my daughter and my sister, so I was hoping not to have to spend more than £100 on dresses for each of them. Also have 2 flowergirls, but I am hoping to get somewhere that has shops when there is a sale on (maybe Debenhams) to pick up some cheap flower girls dresses there.
I am not bothered about flowers really, I know I want them, but artificial would be fine. The only thing is a lot of the sites I have been on seem really expensive, then again, I dont know how they compare to real flowers. I have a planner in Spain, and she seems ok,but she has a team of people that she works with so isnt really forthcoming with ideas about who else may be available.
I dont know what to do about photos either, and someone said about a videographer, but he seems to be about 1k which is a huge huge amount of money!0 -
Definately check out Monsoon and Coast
My wedding dress is from coast : http://www.coast-stores.com/victoria%20jane%20dress/dresses/Coast/fcp-product/2224657960 as we're getting married in Australia and I wanted something simpleGreen and White Barmy Army!0 -
Wow your dress is fab!
Our wedding is in a catholic church, so I still need (ok maybe not need, maybe its just want!) a traditional wedding dress.0 -
This dress is pretty for BMs (how old is your daughter?). Debenhams have lots of nice dresses actually in the right colour, within budget
Monsoon is worth a look too, although it's more like the top end of the budget. Hit the Monsoon sale for flowergirl dresses, they have the prettiest ones!

Hi there, I got married in Spain in 2006. Some things to consider for your dress maybe transporting it - how are you getting there, will it pack in a case or will you buy it it's own seat on the plane (what I did). Also if its in a catholic church do you want a matching wrap etc to cover your shoulders. Are you going over at any point before? Where in Spain are you marrying?0

If your planner has links with businesses then she will be able to save you money on flowers, photography etc.
Whereabouts in Spain are you marrying?0 -

On the other hand, will she (the planner) get kick backs for using certain suppliers who may not necessarily be the cheapest/best for you? Just playing devils advocat. I would do my research.
Also Spain have some amazing tropical flowers in the summer that we don't have here in the UK - it would be a shame to use artificial when these are available.0 -
Birdie, that dress is lovely, however my daughter will only be 10, so not sure she would get away with that!
Shortarms deeppockets, I am not sure yet about transporting it. I was actually thinking of packing it up, shipping it over there and having someone hang it for me. Other than that, yes, I am looking at buying another seat on the flight for it-I am sure my fellow easyjet passengers would love that! Hadnt even thought about a wrap, but will ask the church lady about that when I meet her.
Horace, the wedding is in Alicante, in a region called Rebate.
We are going over in August for our summer holiday and will meet the planner then and everyone else we are meant to meet. Our planner charges very little really and says she doesnt get commission on the suppliers, but I find that difficult to believe!0 -
It's not difficult to buy an extra seat ofr a dress - people often do it for broken limbs, musical instuments etc. You are right, cigars are traditional in spain - you can get your names and date printed on them, we also had alfileres de novia - these would make a great additional favour as they are only found in spain, see this link. I had them aswell as my normal uk favours and my friend use them all the time as broaches for wraps atc.

there are hundreds of designs, they are pins that are normally stuck in to a "ramo" to make a stunning bouquet, or they can be put into a chest and given out. I gave mine out after the meal and it was a great way to make sure I spoke to everyone.
If you need anything else - shout!!0
