Best account?

Hiya

Im having a bit of a dilemma. I need to open a basic bank account but am unsure who to try.
The only id i have is both parts of driving licence, birth certificate, post office account statements and an out of date passport.

When I was younger i had a bit of unpaid debt, but I have not had any credit or bank accounts for about 8 years, so who would be my best bet?

Thanks

Leeann

I would try the Co-operative, we have been with them for several years now, another one i would try is perhaps Barclays, although when i set up a basic account they lost my paperwork and it took ages to sort out :(

There's a list of basic bank accounts here http://www.moneymadeclear.org.uk/pdfs/bank_accounts.pdf. Take your pick. Personally I'd avoid Santander as their customer service is rubbish. HSBC doesn't offer a bit card and Lloyds TSB restricts you to their own ATMs.
