Airing cupboard

This may seem like a silly question but I was wondering what do people actually use their airing cupboard for?
Is it for airing?
Or for storage of linen and towels?

I use our airing cupboard for storing towels, toilet rolls, spare duvet sets, duvets and pillows and sewing paraphernalia. It's (fairly) well organised though with duvets and pillows on very top shelf. Sheets etc on next shelf. Towels (rolled up) and in order of size and colour on left side on middle shelf and toilet rolls stacked on the right. Sewing machine and various boxes of bits and bobs staked on the floor.I have the mind of a criminal genius. I keep it in the freezer next to Mother....0

I haven't got one! combi is wall hung in utility room. I really miss it. Used to air clothes that were nearly dry and towels. Now I've nowhere.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly. My mum used to use our airing cupboard for making yoghurt. It is also a good place to put bread dough to rise and apparently Sophie Grigson uses it to cook meringues overnight.0

Use mine to keep bedding, towels, spare toiletries, toilet rolls and cleaning stuff for bathroom. Also use it to hang clothes in to dry in winter.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End

You wouldn't believe how much I miss it.
I did think about enclosing the combi boiler in a cupboard as a compromise, but heat rises so the cupboard would probably not get warm enough.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I've never understood the term 'airing'. Mine is small and most of the space is taken up by a lovely warm water tank. Not much air in there. So I call it 'warming cupboard'. I stuff my towels and bedlinen in there. On top of the dead spiders :wall:0

or if yr irish its called a "hot press" never quite understood why but i figured its cos its a hot room where you put stuff you've just pressed(ironed) cos thats where mum kept shirts, t-shirts, jeans etc as well as towels, spare duvets, sheets, face cloths, tennis&badminton raquets, old scool books, cress grown as school projects, and me/brothers when playing hide'n'seek as kids (our hot press was massive!:D )Wiggly:heartpulsFB0
