My cooker is not working !

Hi, Please help me to know what my rights are as my letting agency is mocking me...
The cooker stopped working on saturday, so first thing on Monday morning I called the agency to report the problem. They said they will get back to me and send someone. Tuesday I called them again, again they said they will call and send someone. Wendsday they called and said that someone will come on Thursday ..... but no one came. i called them today and the lady was triying to get away with it, but finally after I was really annoyed she admited that the maintenance guy is on holiday .... for 3 weeks!!!
What should I do next? I am really annoyed that I am paying my rent on time and they are just mocking me...

Ask them to find another maintenance man.
In writing. Keep a copy.

It's about £100 for a brand new baby belling type thing that will keep you going until the cooker is fixed - you could suggest they get you one of those or pay for you to have takeaway for the next three weeks.

I can't afford to buy something for just 2 weeks and I have no space to keep it after I don't need it anymore... And it shouldn't be my problem to buy a cooker !!!
I am verry annoyed mostly because they haven't said anything from monday, just promised that someone will come to repair it the next day .... Were they hoping to keep it like that for 3 weeks??

Maybe they were just stalling while they tried to find someone else. Not exactly a good excuse though. Hope you get it sorted soon.

Put your complaint down in writing. Send to the LA AND to the LL. State that after repeated attempts to get in touch you have been told the maintenance man is on holiday for three weeks. Tell them that their responsibility for repairing the cooker is not dependent on whether the maintenance man is available or not, and that you will use the tenant's right to repair (outlined in Lee-Parker vs Izzet 1971) to effect repairs if the cooker is not addressed within a reasonable amount of time, which would in your opinion be 7(?) days.

As for what that process involves, see the link below. You must follow it properly and keep documentation. But often the threat of it is enough to get people moving.

I would put a claim in on to the council for the additional expense you have incurred for having to use a microwave and buying ready meals. At the same time you can have a bell installed in the bathroom, so the duty night nurse can come round and wipe your bottom as well.
