Crop Cage/Hoops

Hi all

I have 2 raised beds each 1mx1m. I built a contraption to put netting and fleece over, but it is falling apart.

Can anyone recommend where I can buy something that I can add to my beds so that I can put things over to to protect them.

Whilst I appreciate that making them is probably cheaper, I want to buy them this time round.

Am I better getting hoops or something a little bit more squarish in shape?

Thanks.

Do you really need to protect anything still, I suppose is the first question.

    But to answer your question.

You have to decide how tall you want to buy or make them, ie what are you going to be growing.

Normally if you can get hold of some plastic water pipe, it's relatively easy to fix a length of that at each end of a 1 metre bed and drape whatever you like over it.

    Thanks that's a great link!

I'm afraid I have 3 cats and they are PESTS, if I let them they would use my beds as cat toilets.

I read in one of the gardening magazines, that someone had used an old gazebo frame and covered that in netting. It seemed to make a very effective fruit cage. You might be able to get one free from freecycle/freegle, and (if you have the patience, lol) some poundshop netting or fleece.

Thanks Pooki, I actually use the Poundshop netting and it was great, only problem is they still managed to get in through the netting as the gaps were too big, so I had to get some with smaller gaps. Aside from that I found the Poundshop netting brilliant for the price!
