Does anyone know the correct name for the lead which runs from your PC to a Plama TV? So I can get my PC viewing on my Plasma rather than my monitor?
Regards

look at this image the black plug on the left is vga and the white plug on the right is a DVI port. DVI gives the higher quality picture
in this picture the s-video plug is on the left0 -
It could be a number of options.
d-Sub, DVI, or s-video. I wouldn't naturally assume s-video as some graphics cards won't have it.
You'll need to look around the back of the machine and describe the ports you have there."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -

d-sub is vga isnt it?
one more point: also look on the back of the plasma tv to see what ports it has0 -

Heh, yeah good point. Check what outputs the tv has. My TV only has d-Sub (VGA) and Scart connections. Actually I think it may have an s-video, but any computer or equivalent is meant to hook up via the VGA connection.
Yep, d-Sub is VGA. I think d-Sub specifically refers to the connector (correct me if I'm wrong)."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
Rather than start a new thread, we already have a 3 metre s video cable from our pc to our bedroom tv which is fab, but would like to run one into the living room.
This would require around 15 metres. Is this actually available , as we cannot find one anywhere? Or would we be better off getting one of those boxes that does wireless streaming?Membre Of Teh Misspleing Culb0 -
I'm sure you'll be able to find something somewhere.
I think over those kind of distances though you may find the video quality may get effected. I can't say for sure though, you'd need to google round and read up in other forums."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
Thanks. Our best bet may actually be to learn how to use a media converter and burn dvds, lol.Membre Of Teh Misspleing Culb0

I'd agree with Wolfman on the likely degradation of video signal quality over that sort of distance.
You may get an oblique answer to the problem either by asking an intelligent assistant in a PC or TV shop (hah!) what is the maximum length of <whatever> video cable available, or searching the websites of one of the online sellers, like Dabs, Scan, etc, to find the maximum length sold...

PS Or, of course, someone may be able to point you to the appropriate standard!0
