Ill Health retirement

Options
To cut a long story short ive been in and out of work on the sick since march 09 when i had an accident. I work for the nhs and have been left with mental health issues meaning i can no longer do my job. I have been off sick this time since april and now my employer has given me 3 options. 1) i return to my original post 2) i go on the redeployment register and 3) they retire me on ill health. I have seen occ health and he said i am not well enough to do any work at the momment and also it would be to soon for both redeployment and retirement. My gp agrrees with this. My question is what do i do! I have been told this today and have 10 days to tell them my decision. Please help. Ps im only 26 and occ health has said there may be time in the future that i could return to my post but could not give a time scale

    Are you in a union?

You have been off for two or three months. How long have you been off previously?
    Gone ... or have I?

I would suggest that if occ health says you are not fit for work at the moment and you have not been off for more than 6 months in a 12 month period, then you don't have to choose any of the options. If you do, then redeployment seems the best option because they then have to look for something suitable under the Disability Discrimination Act. (And this takes up time- during which period you may feel better(
The danger is that if you are not fit enough to return to your own job and they can't find you something on redepolyment your contract will be terminated. It also may depend on how long you have worked there. You are unlikely to fulfill the criteria for retirement, based on your Drs comments that you may be able to return to work in the future,

I think if you add the OP's time they have been off for around 7 months plus
The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
