I think the point was - hypocrisy and the that other citizens of the earth don't really matter.

If I lived on the Gulf Coast and my livelihood was threatened I'd be pretty p'd off too. For that matter, Mexican fishermen are also concerned about the spill as a change in the weather system will take the oil there. When Buncefield went up, the then PM didn't even bother to visit the town, even though it was only sheer luck that many weren't killed or seriously injured. Joy of joys, we got sent Prescott. What's worse, a President who uses the situation for his own gain or a PM who can't be arsed? America is a huge and complex country with lots of people with hugely differing opinions. Why paint them all with the same brush?

Lest we forget, BP is 40% UK owned and 40% US owned. It is not a UK company.

They pay taxes in the UK though - £6bn - we're gonna miss that!

It's £6bn in taxes paid globally, I doubt if the UK sees even half of that.
  • And they're looking for a fight over the Falklands
US calls for UK-Argentine talks over Falklands sovereignty to re-open

The US has joined Latin American countries in demanding fresh talks between Britain and Argentina over the sovereignty of the Falkland Islands at a regional summit.

Do you know what is going on in the Falklands area at the moment or are you basing this on your 1980s knowledge?

It's all Obama's revenge...that's all! Sarah Palin's husband is a big shot BP guy and I'm sure BP donated to the Mcain presidential campaign...or at least supported it!

The big issue is the that fact that Oil is too cheap...and still undercuts the climate change fraud alternative expensive energy! And why is Oil cheap? Because quite simply there is a lot of it in supply and supply still outstrips demand and will do so for many years (100s) to come! This stuff in the Gulf of Mexico (as bad as it is) is being used by Obama/Gore to show us all the light on just how bad oil is...give me a break!
