carers allowance or carers premium

Hi
My sister is currently claiming jobseekers allowance and looking after our mum for about 40 hours a week. We have decided to try and claim some attendance allowance for mum and some sort of carers money for my sister.
My sister has been told she can claim carers premium on top of her jobseekers but she would be better off changing to inome support and claiming carers allowance. Her big worry is that if she signs off jobseekers then she could be left with no income while her claim is being processed.
Has anyone got any experience of this situation?

There will be a period of time where she isnt in receipt of IS or JSA.
What I would recomment is claiming CA while continuing to claim JSA. Then when CA goes into payment switch to Income Support at that point in order to ensure something is coming in.
I take it it is JSA(IB) in payment?0 -

I think it must be income based she was made redundant about 8 months ago.
