How long after successful appeal does ESA take to update to new rate

Well on the 27th May 2010 I had a successful appeal for my ESA which awarded me 18 Points and I am slowly on the road to recovery well as best as I can be..
Anyway my Question is how long can it take for it to be processed to the new rate, and will it be backdated to the date of appeal or will it be to week 14 as if it is to week 14 then it seems a bit mean.

I had my initial medical in March 2009 after first claiming ESA after an accident in November 2008 and was placed in the support group, I then had another medical in Novemeber 2009 which I was meant to have received a ESA50 form which I never got and then had an extremely rushed and not useful medical which I inevitably failed went from 27 points to zero even though I was still having blackouts and my other medical problem was apparant, ESA was stopped after medical which I appealed on and was granted the 18 points at appeal.
The extra money would come in so handy at the moment as I have been on extreme budgeting measures.

It would be from the day you were originally put back on the assessment phase rate during your appeal. That is the decision that has been revised.
  • I started claiming ESA in Oct 08 after being off work sick for 28 weeks (Metatastic Breast Cancer which spread to my lungs).

I've got my Support Group Rate from DAY 1 - after I wrote an irate letter to my MP & he took up my case - I fail to understand why
we have to wait 13 weeks for someone to determine if you're fit to work.

You were in a serious accident what part of that do they not understand!

Unfortunately it sounds like you were another victim of the ATOS medical which is more interested in getting it's BONUS for % return rates.

Again, i urge you to write to your MP and make them aware of the distress this proceedure causes to genuinely ill people.

It is worth phoning Work & Pensions in Belfast and chase them up - they are a great help despite the hassles they get from people
messed about by "medical professionals" that ATOS use.

    Good luck

ATOS do not get a bonus - that is a lie.

Thank you for your replies, yes I know it was classed as a serious accident but it is also classed as Domestic Violence and a result of that. The fact that I have come out the other side a happier and more confident person and have now got a stable new relationship do I feel able to talk about it.

The Atos medical was flawed in the way that the Dr/Medical professional did not have all of the facts infront of them and I presented as the appeals board said a happy and confident person and did not look like I had any medical issues.

NASA, do you know how long it takes as I think my local Parlimentary MP does not really need to be hassled as he has enough to deal with after our last MP royally messed things up..

It just depends how busy they are where you are. Could be a few weeks yet.
