Lost on DVD

If you have a multi region DVD player and want to buy the Lost TV series - DONT BUY THE UK VERSION.

Go to Amazon.com and order the US region 1 box set - Why ?

Well in the UK you will expect to pay around £27.99 for each of the two part box set. So about £55.98 for the complete series.

In the US the series is not split into two boxes but is sold in one complete box set at the cost of around $38.87 (currently in the sale if you pre order before the release date of Sept 5th) at the current exchange rate that works out at about £20.41 - that is a saving of £35.57 !!!!

Expect to get hit with customs and excise import tax of around £13

But still what a saving !!!! :money:

  • can also get it through cd wow for £38.99, and it shouldn't have an import charge on it. Plus can get quidco 5% back or piggypoints. That's for region 1 though.

I would like to buy Lost Season 1 (complete series), but only have a region 2 DVD player so can't buy from the US.
Does anyone know the cheapest place to buy parts one & two?
  • Choicesuk.com have both parts 1 and 2 for £16.49 each.

    Jools61,
I know its an obvious question but are you sure your DVD player cannot be made region free? Most can now.

  • I completely agree - I refuse to buy dvds that are split into 2 sets - it's just a big con. I'm also buying clothes from the US (the first new clothes to be purchased in a LONG time) to take advantage of the exchange rate.

I buy quite a lot of DVDs from amazon.com and I've only been hit with a customs charge once. Sometimes you're just lucky....;) and even with the charge it's still cheaper.

And considering you can get a multi-region player for less than the cost of the dvds, it's worth it....

[whispers] Or look up unlock/hack codes on google....

I use movietyme.com for most of the purchases I make, including games for the Nintendo, LOST Series 2 is 30.99 delivered price, never had a problem with customs duty, movietyme are a 'customs friendly' place, if you know what I mean ;)

Thanks to those who answered my question.

    A wise idea....

Look for one that plays DiVX as well, I got one from asda for 29.99, well worth it in case someone has already acquired TV shows from the US and put them on disc....

Whats your DVD model, post it here, we might be able to find an unlock code, save you more pennies possibly than buying another player

It's a Panasonic DMR-ES10 dvd recorder. But it's faulty and I've been told to take it back to Tesco for a refund as it's under guarantee.

If they give me my money back I'll get a multi-region one with Div.x
