Any tips for a good military book

Hi all,

Probably the wrong site to ask, but I'm looking for a book for my dad. I'd like something that recounts the stories of 20th century VC and other medal recipients.

I've had a look in bookshops cut can't seem to find anything. I can get books on individuals - but I'd like a selection of different stories about different people and how they got the medals. Any tips please?

Off the cuff, try searching for "Symbol of Courage" or "Victoria Cross Heroes". There's also "The Men Behind the Medals" for aviation types.

Try the army rumour service - http://www.arrse.co.uk - for more suggestions, probably best in the military history section (there is a books section, but a bit dead when I was last there).

A mate of mine has just had his book published, its called 'Bullet Magnet' by Mick Flynn,

Mick is the British Army's most highly decorated serving soldier, it's his account of a very long career from the Falklands, N Ireland, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan.
