Help my tvs broke

My tv has stopped working . I`ve checked the fuse and it makes no difference so I assume the tube has blown.

How long should it last?

It was bought six years ago and it has not been used very much, in fact it was a third set for much of that time. It is a Daewoo and it cost £250 at the time.

It is particularly annoying as the main set, a Panasonic Home cinema one had the same problem two years ago, I got it fixed and the tube went again 4 months ago.

I will probably buy a new one soon but is six years reasonable for something that was hardly used?

The tube in a tv very very very rarely goes. Its usaully a badly soldered joint, failure component or IC (chip) on one of the circuit boards or even a switch or power supply that fails.

If you are using a local TV repair man and he tells you the tube has gone it rather like a garage telling you you need a new wheel because you have a flat tyre or a new engine because your spark plug has failed! Find a new TV repair man who tells you the truth!!!!!!!!!!!

6 years is a reasonable length of time if its a minor fault. TBH its probably cheaper to buy a new TV. Try the supermarkets (Tesco, Asda etc) they had some 24" Flat screen TV's for just over £100 recently.

That's a bit of an extreme diagnosis

In terms of the sale of goods act - 5/6 years is considered reasonable.
