On income support and wanting to become self employed

Hi,
I am new to the site, but am a lone parent on income support and am looking to go self employed making handmade jewellery, for all occasions, including weddings.
I have spoken to the employment office, but they tend to keep info very vague about what benefits etc you will lose. I understand the <16 hours, and £20 allowance on what you can earn. But, I also get help towards my mortgage and council tax. Will this be affected and at what point?
Thanks

Congratulations. Working Tax Credits would most likely take the place of benefit payments and if you're forecasting a low first year profit, could be a sizeable sum and enough to keep you afloat. CTB would be based on income so you could still qualify. There are a raft of back to work incentives including lump sums and weekly payments. Phone up the jobcentre and make an appointment to see a back to work advisor.
