Airmiles Duo

I am hoping to take advantange of the 1,500 free air miles that you get if you get the card.

I applied for it and got a reference number, is this a rejection?

How long do they take if it's not an instant decision?

I read on one of the other threads that if it isn't an instant decision then it is a rejection, is that true?

Thanks,

HR

PS: I called them up and they said a reference number usually means an acceptance but am not sure

    Hi!

The Lloyds Airmiles Duo is NOT an instant decision card. They will look at each application individually. Expect to hear back in 5 -7 days with a decision. It is a prime card so you will be rejected if you dont have a good credit history inclusive of card history, OR, if you are a Lloyds customer in which case they will use either your account conduct as a decisive factor with or without consulting your credit file.

Getting a reference number is not a sign of acceptance, as it will be a manually underwritten application. You have been ill-advised on that.

If accepted it is a great card to have, what with the airmiles and the good credit limits.

    Good Luck.

    Thanks for your reply.

My history in the past was a bit ify but I think I have rebuilt it in the last couple of years. I have a Barclaycard (Platinum) and a Natwest (YourPoints) that I got recently. I believe these are prime cards.

I don't think I am or can really be classified as a Lloyds customer. I had a kiddie account with TSB back in the day. The kind of account that was passbook based and predated sort codes that I haven't used for years (probably dormant now). They can't find my details, I can't find my passbook.

I was a bit dubious cause if I have been accepted why give me a reference number and not give me a decision.

Any ideas what sort of acceptance rates (for people with good histories - if I can call my history good)? Do you know what the average limits are as a guide?

TBH, I just want to get the 1500 miles that they are promoting and hopefully I will gain sufficient miles in the first 3 months (1 mile / £1 on amex)

    Thanks

I got the card more then 30 days after I got the initial letter with the reference number (I'm not a LLOY customer).

30 days? They are either very thorough with their checks or pretty incompetent.

Hopefully you got a decent limit to compensate for the wait

As they look at every application manually, then it can take longer than the specified time if they have a lot of applications to process. But yes, they are fairly strict with this card - it is a prime and desirable card.

The limits are very much individual depending on either your account conduct if you are a customer or your credit file if not (amount of credit currently showing, amount owing, amount of payments made etc gives away a lot of your affordability).

Expect to see a starting limit of between £1000 - £5000 depending on your credit file and their scoring mechanism. Lloyds will increase this limit regularly should the account be kept in good affordable order.
