another seller who needs to re read the rules

I just sent a brief but polite email to a seller asking whether my item, purchased last Thursday has been posted yet. The response was that he can't get to the PO more than once a week, so mine will go this coming Saturday Morning (but that is over a week?).

The odd thing is though that the item was £2.25 and the postage £2 1st class recorded, and on his listings he says

" I use recorded for the safety of my buyers, please be assured that if you have any issues with non delivery then despite paypal not requiring me to assist you I will send you a copy of the recorded receipt to enable you to claim. This is for your benefit and is over and above my requirements on paypal and ebay, and Ive had that confirmed. negative feedback will be returned'.

I know I'm stupid for buying, but he was less than a third of the price of other sellers and I actually have a buyer in mind for his item, so I took a chance. The reason for posting is though why bother protecting himself with recorded if he then fails to post within the 7 day window for seller protection?

I actually wouldn't have bothered to chase him on this as he shows a 5 day dispatch on his listings, but another thread I was replying on reminded me that I was expecting a recorded item and I got worried I had missed it.

Well not much advice on the whole thing, but he cannot leave you negative- sellers can only leave buyers positive or none, so don't worry on that front! Someone else will have advice about the rest x

I always wonder how many people believe those terms, don't leave negs out of fear, and pursue claims themselves.

I wasn't really looking for advice, I just thought it odd that someone tries to protect themselves with recorded and yet not bother to make sure they are eligible for paypal seller protection in the first place.

If it doesn't get sent until saturday then I will expect it next week, and leave appropriate feedback and stars.

If he only posts once a week what was wrong with him posting it last week. You won on Thursday so he had plenty of time.

I still read on listings that the seller will send the pop if an item has gone missing for the buyer to make a claim, I usually just look for another seller that doesn't have silly statements in their listings.

That's what I thought, if he posts every Saturday only then why didn't mine go last Saturday? Very weird.

I'm not put off at all by silly terms on listings. I know what a sellers obligations are, it's not my problem if the seller themselves doesn't. Hopefully though lots of other buyers are put off so I get a cheaper item :D

If it went wrong with these people, would it be wrong to wait until they send you the pop, then put in a paypal claim, teaching them a lesson.

The moral of this story is surely, if you see a seller with silly statements and terms and conditions in his listings and you still choose to buy from him, don't be suprised if you then have problems with the order.

Good news it arrived today recorded delivery. put through the door unsigned (and not tracked online) with all my usual post which is normal for recorded.

The item is lovely so I will leave positive feedback and just mark the stars for despatch down as I think it was taking the mickey a bit.
