Driveway Quote

Hi all,

This is my first trip outside the grab-it boards and what a wide, wide world it is !!

Anyway, I've just had a quote for a new block paved driveway. The contractor has insisted that they'll dig down 10 inches, spend a great deal of time building the foundations and use Marshall's products. Work will be guaranteed for 10 years at a cost of £5,000 incl. The total area is 72 sq.m.

Is this value for money ? I've seen what a badly laid driveway can look like but want to make sure I'm not paying over the odds.

Thanks,

Dave

you're welcome, I must add I'm nothing to do with them but have seen the site recommended on many other forums, it's extremely helpful and informative if you know nothing about the subject.
  • When we had our block paving done it cost us £2,500. I'm no good with measurements but the space is 2 x car width and we had a side path to the back gate too.

If they are a Marshall approved contractor the work will be guaranteed by Marshall; much better than being guaranteed by the contractor.

  • Seems to be in the right ball park based on area

Have you looked at what you can do to save such as dealing with the spoil yourself?

I have a use for it, but depending on your property you may not
  • Sorry to hijack this thread (seems daft to open a new one).

I've been quoted £1500 for an area around 22 Sq M a car width \ length and a path really, but as far as I recall no guarantee or such like (there may be one that the chap didn't mention). I'm in south east london (which I imagine changes things a little?)

This was an independent guy, tried to arrange a quote from anglian, but no show on the appointment...

Any advice (am looking through the site) would be great

If the hijack is a faux pas let me know and I'll repost...
