in Credit cards
i recently applied to capital one for a credit card as i have poor credit history, i tried applying online the first time i was told online form wasnt working, so i waited and tried applying later still no joy, i then tried the following morning still not working so i phoned number on online form, capital one told that they received my three applications and was processing them and that i had rejected, i explained that it was only one aplication. i paid for a equifax credit report when i received its was showing three credit searches for capital one, i have phoned capital one to ask if they could remove two duplictae searches a very unhelpful customer service person told me it was my own fault as i applied three times credit searches are automatic and there is nothing they can do, i asked that they should put a message on the online when this error comes up that says information has been sent. this would warn people about making mutiple applications and get multiple searches on there credit history.

This also happened when I applied. The online form does not give you feedback. I rang customer service and they told me to wait 2 working days. Rang 2 days later and the application was there and processed.
I guess it would be best to apply by phone in this case.

I've had exactly the same problem with capital one! Only I tried applying twice, not three times. However, I received a letter last Thursday telling me my application was successful (my first application) then received one on Friday telling me I've been declined. Anyway the credit card arrived in the post this morning and I activated it successfully over the phone - I have no idea what the hell is up with their applications department but they need to get their act together... I noticed the approval and rejection letters were signed by different people in the same department so I guess it depends on who your application is given to as to whether you are accepted or not. As I'm a student my limit is only £200 but on none of the letters I've received does it say what interest rate I will be paying - not that it matters since I'll be paying off the full balance anyway but they should still tell me.0

you can get the searches removed, i would phone up again, and ask to speak to the complaints dept,
also contact experian, and phone them, and explain what has happened
if these are not removed they can make your credit worse!0
