HPI checks by text?

Hi I am going to buy a car soon and want to check the history. The RAC charge £20 but there are £3 ones via text, are the cheap ones worth it?

they say they are insured so are they a good deal?

Proper HPI checks do more than than tell you the history. You need to know if the seller is entitled to sell the car (regarding outstanding finance), which the £3 cheapie doesn't do. Also, how you going to sue the text company if they send you duff history info?

anyone got any recommendations? or is it best to stick to a big name like the RAC?

Visit the autoexpress website they reviewed some of the hpi check companies,
Cheap ones missed vital info, Car written off or had finance outstanding.

Might as well flip a coin that waste the money on cheap ones.
