Unable to open .ov2 files for Tomtom sat nav

Options
Hello

I've downloaded a .ov2 file from the RSPB's website, which will add details of their nature reserves as places of interest to my Tomtom sat nav. However, when I double-click the file I get the "Windows cannot open this file" message. I then select the "Use the web service to find the appropriate program" but then I get a web page which reads, "Windows does not recognize this file type."

There appears to be lots of websites related to the subject but I am not sure of the authenticity of these sites.

Please can you advise how to open the .ov2 file?

Many thanks for your help.

You don't have to open it...

Connect the tomtom to the computer, find the map folder (will be something like UK & Ireland or UK & western europe depending on the map installed) & copy the ov2 file there.

Why would you want to? Just copy it onto the TomTom together with the .bmp icon that should be with it. They should go in the same folder as the maps (normally this has a region or country name).

Ooops too late - I was downloading some to see if they were simple text files if the poster was curious what was in them but they aren't.
