BandHero not booting up on PS2...brand new!

Options
Hello clever guys and gals,

As the title states, we have a brand new Band Hero for PS2 and cannot get the game to load. I have looked for advice on the net, but they all say take the game back. We know the console is working fine. Guitar Hero and Sing Star still working perfectly.

I am loath to arrange a return straight away as it took ages to set up the instruments - they will need packing back into the box..and my girls were uber excited yesterday trying to get it sorted. Also, we got it as a misprice bargain from Play.com - so they might just refund rather than replace!!!

Is there something obvious we are not doing?

Many thanks in advance of assistance!

Sarah

    Hello...thanks for replying.

We put the game in (tried with instruments unplugged as per instructions, and plugged in).

It doesn't load at all. We get the screen with the memory card and disc.

We click on the disc and it says 'no data' i think. We tried playing with the browser and console settings. We also tried repeated re-booting and switching off at the plug etc.

Unfortunately as we are 3 girlies with little knowledge of the settings and I don't know what I am doing when I change the settings! As I previously mentioned, we tested the console with other games and it loads up immediately.

Online, we read that to test in another console, but all of our friends are owners of xboxes, PS3's and Wii's! We are officially dinosaurs.

Don't know if this helps you.

    Many thanks.

As far as i am aware you can try it in the PS3 - as long as they are from the same region - i.e both brought in the uk. The PS3 is backward compatible with older games. (Some one may correct me on this though)

It does sound as if the disk is faulty .... are there any obvious scratches on it ? Could try giving it a wipe to make sure there is no dust on it ...

Where did you buy it from ? maybe they would swap the disks rather than just send it all back less hassle for both you and them ?
  • Thanks again...

It was brand new, security wrapped and in pristine shiny new condition. We ordered it from Play.com. The whole lot was definitely brand new and sealed up. We were quite lucky...they had a misprice on the site for about 2 hours last week (found on HDUK) and it was only £29.99 so will be gutted if I have to organise sending it back in case they become 'out of stock' and refund instead of replace!

I am going to try and do it again a few times now before I email them. Do you think they will send just a game and not need to replace the whole caboodle?

Many thanks, I am grateful for your advice.

    Hi there,

Only the original 60gb PS3's were backwards compatible with PS2 games. If you pop the disc in a newer PS3 it'll tell you its not recognised. :)

  • Just to update.

Been on the phone to Play.

Much kudos to them - the lady couldn't have been more helpful. Rather than incur the cost of returning the whole bundle, they are going to send out another copy of the game. Am really happy with how they have dealt with it. They couldn't have been nicer and I am now a confirmed Play.com customer for life!!!

And btw, I have a computer/console fan that bought the backwards compatible PS3 when they first came out. So I will give the faulty game to him for testing, but the lady at Play said it does sound like a faulty disc and the new one should work.

    Result!

Thank you all for your input.
