a heart-warming tale about Ebay - just for a change...

Okay so tale *might* just be stretching it a bit, but I thought it was too nice not to share! I am, as you might have guessed a skint student - just about to go for another year of debt to become a teacher... I've been working two jobs over the summer & selling things on Ebay to raise my tuition fees (£3000  )
Well... I had sold a keyboard & mouse (brand new) for £5.99, I only had one bidder. When I sent the guy the invoice he replied saying " do you want me to pay for it? as it doesn't seem a fair price", I replied saying he had won the item fairly in an auction. Well imagine my surprise when I woke up the next morning and eagerly checked my Paypal account to find that he had paid me £10.99.:T
There see it was worth reading, if only to let you know that (cheesey as it may sound) there are some very nice people - so don't despair!

... and you just got your first "thanks" :-)0

I paid someone extra once as I thought their postage was too low (and it was as it turned out. I was surprised they did nor email me about it though or put it in feedback...if I had received extra payment and a note explaining why I would have felt compelled to thank them. Oh well .....!I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes

Yus, I emailed him back and explained he'd made a poor student very happy - he was quite relaxed about it - said he'd been there and he was a fair guy! I guess I'd just gotten quite cynical (so young too!) with people complaining that I had charged them 30p too much for postage and *PACKAGING* is what they forget.
& thanks for my thanks :j im new0 -

I don't even read the payments half the time so might have been me sorry!!0 -
One of the first items I bought on Ebay - a rag rug - ended up in a bit of a bidding war between mysef and someone else, went to about £35. After I'd paid, I got an email from the seller saying that the rugs only retail for £12, so he would send me a PO for the difference, and he did

Also, I sold a very rare perfume on Ebay, and my buyer was new (I was a bit wary), but she sent me her cheque with an absolutely lovely letter and a packet of chocolate buttons. We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -
This is good news, but i also find it weird. Why would ppl go to the extra effort to do such things? Lucky not everyone is like me, i guess!"I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something."0

There definately are some great ppl on Ebay!
Several weeks ago I decided to sell a faulty Canon Camcorder on ebay which was just out of it's warranty, I was quoted over £200 repairs!!!, when I checked the completed auctions I could'nt understand why a similar one (with the same fault!) sold for over £100.
I started my auction for around £10 there was lots of interest and lots of people watching, later the same day someone emailed to say that the particular fault I had described was a known problem and the Camcorders were being repaired free!
Needless to say I closed the auction contacted Canon who repaired the Camcorder and returned it within 24 hours all FREE of charge. Saved me around £400 (which I was planning to spend on a new camcorder).
I thanked him several times, I still can't believe it as he could easily have bid on the item, bought it and had it repaired (Canon were'nt checking in receipts)0 -

I sold a zip drive a few months ago, and miscalculated the postage - only by about a pound. When the buyer recieved it they noticed, and offered to pay more - bless them. I refused to take anymore for it, but I thought it was sweet.April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200 -
