child tax credit

hope someone can help i moved in with my partner last august when when claimed child tca crefit as a couple so stoppping her single claim.this year we have been sent a reneeal as a joint claim.my partner has also recieved another for the peroid 06/04/09-01/08/09
for the single claim.when she phoned they said his was just to check that everyhing is correct and finalis the claim for that peroiod for those months.is these normal as we have never seen this before

    I would think it is totally normal, as they have to close off the year by confirming your entitlement to what you received. As she had two different claims, they need to confirm that all information including income etc. is correct.

    Yes this is normal. Your partner had 2 claims during the 09/10 tax year and both would have been based on her income. She needs to do the renewal to finalise the 09/10 tax year. If her actual income in 09/10 was less than what her single claim was based on then she may be due an extra payment. Similarly if your joint income was less than the total household income used on your joint claim then you might be entitled to an extra payment too.
