I don't see anything wrong with a celebration when the year sixes leave, but a formal 'prom' with helicopter's and Limo's, mortar boards and tuxes? What planet are these people on?

The city of Chav on planet BigBrother I suspect, with photographic services supplied by Snigger magazine.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Ours are having a leavers disco, which is basically a school disco with lots of 11 years old girls crying.

I quite agree. Proves that you can have money and still be an utter chav. :D

What in the name of sanity is a primary school prom ?

We had one when I left Hillhead primary school in 1972, but it was called a going up dance.
We had to bring cakes, sandwiches and pop and wear smart clothes shirt, tie and long trousers for the boys and party frocks or dresses for the girls. Calling it a prom just makes it sound American IMO.

All we had was a leavers assembly, At highschool we had the same assembly but a problem, which was basically a sit down meal with people being driven in limos

At my junior school, the yard was outside the door, then a wide grassy area with a 3ft fence round it seperating it from the public footpath. To leave we had to cross the yard and walk up the side of the building and go through the main gate by the infant school. There was a teacher on duty and if you took a short cut by crossing the grass and jumping the fence, you were kept in a break the next day.

The highlight of leaving junior school was that all the pupils used to run across the grass and jump the fence. We were easy pleased :rotfl:
Here I go again on my own....

The school she left is very small, her class consisted of 11 pupils, of those only 3 came with her to high school, one left the country altogether and the others were scattered around different schools. In this case we knew it would be the last time they would all be together so decided to make it a special night.

Was the school that bad? ;)
    Gone ... or have I?
