IT training courses - are they regulated by anyone?

Often a viewer but first time poster.....be gentle if I do anything wrong.

My sister and I attended a Photoshop training course and it was appalling. We have complained to the company but I wondered if IT training courses are regulated by a specific body as I would like to report them for not fulfilling their obligations - they only taught us 50% of what they promised and the tutor was hopelessly unprofessional.

We asked the company for 50% of our money back as they had only taught us half the course and they have come back and said we could attend the advanced course free of charge - obviously we are not sure if we would get the same tutor (embarrassing and awkward) or if it would be another tutor who could be equally rubbish.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Where was it you did the course. Aren't colleges regulated, was the place an apple training centre or linked to apple in anyway
  • Hiya, no we didn't go to a college and they wasn't connected to apple. The company had testimonials and a great client list and are based at a film studio. From looking at their website again tonight I think they may have designed the websites of the client list rather than provided training for them. Thanks for your interest!

If its not a affiliated to anyone and the qualification isn't an official one such as an GNVQ ect then no, there no regulation.

I may be wrong but surely if it doesnt have its own regulating body it would fall under OFT as a consumer issue?

I imagine it would fall under normal consumer legislation/guidelines. For example, the provider as of yet, would be in breach of contract as they have failed to uphold their end.
