I'm in need of help as I cannot get my laptop (Toshiba Satellie Pro) to talk to my projector (Optoma). Tried FN + 5 to no avail...now starting to pull hair out! Would be very grateful for any assistance.

I can't guarantee this works but from a quick google search it appears to reinstall hotkeys.

It's a long time since I used a Tosh Pro so I can't remember all the function keys.
F5 refreshes the laptop screen. To refresh the projector you have to hold down the function key and the F key (often f8 but it varies) marked CRT/LCD or icons meaning something similar.
This should cycle though Laptop only, projector only, laptop+projector it can take several seconds for the transition so click and wait.
Another possibility is the channel setting on the projector, you may have 2 PC channels and 2 video channels, the channel should appear on the projector set up screen when it has no signal. Make sure your video lead is going into the expected socket, cycle the projector through all its channels - again don't be too hasty as the image can take a second or two to come up.
If this doesn't work right click on the desktop, not on an icon, and bring up your display set up. If you have a good connection with the projector you should see both screens referred to. The Optoma with have been identified with any luck, but even it appears as unknown you should get a reasonable picture at default resolution.
If the second display (the projector) is no showing on the display set up I would suspect the connection to the projector. Waggle the connections a bit, then try the refresh.
You also get a mismatch between the resolution of the projector and the PC. This may cause an odd looking projection but not normally a blank.0 -
Have you tried connecting the projector turned off to the laptop turned on then turn the projector on and if that doesnt work try the laptop off with projector on and if that doesnt work try connecting whilst both are off then turn laptop on then projector.
I cant remember teh sequence but i heard someone at work was told other day the sequence(cant remember the finer details mind)0
