I've been talking to the guy at Powergen's energy saving hotline today.
The conversation got round to refrigeration and he said that the efficiency of appliances had improved by leaps and bounds over the last few years.
It would appear that those of us who are congratulating themselves on the longevity of our old fridge/fridge-freezer/freezer might be missing a trick - to the extent of a £40/year excess electricity bill.
