Ideas for home made "remedies"

I am looking to pull together a hamper for Christmas full of home made remedies.
I don't really care if they work or not.
So far I only have some elderberry syrup which is reputedly good for colds, but I took some this morning and now have a filthy cold. I thought when they said it was good for colds it meant it prevented or cured them not caused it!! But it tastes OK and I am sure by tomorrow I will be fighting fit.

Anyway any other ideas?
Something with lavendar, rosehips or hawthorn berries would be very good.

Thanks

Vikki

    Hi ViksB,

I'm afraid we are not allowed to give or ask for medical advice on the MSE chat forums. Please see the Forum Team's post at the top of this board.

Martin has asked me to post this in these circumstances:

Sorry, giving or asking for medical advice is not permitted on this forum as it’s not what this site is about. While discussing medical insurance policies, cheaper ways to see consultants, cashback for alternative health treatments and how to get specific medication cheaper (legally) are all perfectly acceptable we ask you specifically not to discuss what to do in the event of certain medical problems (please see this rule on the Health Board). If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.
