hi,
i'm not quite sure where to put this .... or if anyone can help.
One of the landline phones in my house has stopped ringing, ......although it still works both to make and recieve calls!
i have swopped my landline phones around and discovered that the fault is not with the actual phone, but is the same with whichever phone i plug into that socket.
Has anybody got any ideas?
Thanks

Possibly the cabling.
If i remember correctly you can run a phone extension on 2 wires, however if you want it to ring you need 3. I'm hazy on this but a good place to start looking.
Can you get at the ends to see if they are still connected ?
Could mice be nibbling or the cat gone through it ?NURSE: "Shouldn't it be sterilized, doctor?"
DR. BENWAY: "Very likely but there's no time."0 -
Must be your wiring I reakon. The 'ringing' cable is connection #3, the cable is normally orange with white bands. If it's only just happened I'd suggest, as the previous poster has, that the cable or plug is damaged in some way. I'm assuming it's an extension and not the master as you get ringing on your other bt plug(s). I seem to remember that there is a limit on how much you can load up your phone system, you haven't added to your phone line have you (answerphone, fax or the like)?0
