I am using WMP 11 on my pc but haven't used my DVD player for a while now but when I came to watch a DVD the other night, I got an error message something along the lines of...
"Windows Media Player cannot play DVD video. You might need to adjust your Windows display settings. Open display settings in Control Panel, and then try lowering your screen resolution and color quality settings."
I've altered both the colour quality and the resolution setting but that didn't work. I've tried to update the drivers but that hasn't worked either. As far as I know, I haven't deleted something I shouldn't have so I'm kinda stuck so if any techies could help me out, I'd be grateful!
I've also rolled back to WMP 10 but get the same problem!

WMP can't play DVDs without a decoder; you can either download a different player live VLC (google it!) or install a dvd decoder pack.0

So it 'used' to play dvds?
By default, windows media player doesnt (Which I find really baffling, but whatever)
Assuming it HAS worked in the past, youve probably downloaded another media player which has messed up the settings (DIVX, VLC etc):idea:0 -
VLC media player is a free download from here:-http://www.videolan.org/Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0

Sorry, I guess I must have had a codec for it at one point. Got it working now (K-Lite codec pack v6.04) and tried playing a dvd which works except the audio is really low even though speaker volume cant go any higher! Music playing in the background of the dvd is normal, its the people talking that's the low bit!
Any ideas?English by birth. GEORDIE by the grace of God.0
