Santander credit card

Don't have an account but like the sound of the fee free card for balance transfer.
Never had to do this before as mainly avoided living on credit, however times are getting tougher!
We don't have an account with them and the link on the site here seems to take you to a switching option.
Is it possible to get this deal without switching wages etc as have an offset mortgage with First Direct.
Any advice welcome

You can apply for a Santander credit card without having an account with them - also , if you open an account to take advantage of the zero card, you dont have to use it as your main account thus not switch.
Be warned it is a prime card and will require good previous card history and the application to them can be quite topsy turvy, i.e. the can take forever to process an application.0 -
Put Santander/Abbey/ShAbbey into these forums, read about all of the problems , then decide if you want to run away very quickly.0

Sounds like a body swerve job then, any better options for a fee free move?
Have good credit history, well would like to think so.
How do these credit card transfers work anyway, do you tell them your intentions whilst applying for the car or wait till you have the card in place then instruct the transfer0 -

Existing Santander or Alliance and Leicester, current account and mortgage holders can get 6 months fees free online from the Santander Zero card (followed by 18.9%). Non-customers must apply in branches though you'll pay a 3% balance transfer fee.
Was hoping to avoid the 3% fee
If we currently have a joint CC, do we need to get a joint acc and CC in order to carry out a transfer or could I get the card on my own yet still transfer in from a joint card0 -

All the accounts seem to be minium £1000 pay in per month. '3'
Note 3: If you do not meet the credit requirements the in-credit interest rate will be 0.10% gross/AER
This just means any money you have will make nothing?
If it gets a fee free transfer can live with that, don't want to have money in the account anyway

Sounds like best option if can get it set up of course0 -
I have got Santander Zero card because I have an account with them. You can apply for other Santander card without having an account with Santander.
But I must admit, since they approved my application on January 2010, I had to wait for nearly 2 months to issue me Card before they realised that there is a fault in their system. I kept on getting the same letter that they are waiting for my proof of ID and signature despite posting it couple of times. Whenever I phoned them they kept on saying that on their system it says that they are still waiting for documents and I should wait for another week and so on..
But finally it was worth a hassle because no other credit cards give you 0% on Cash withdrawal, zero balance transfer fee and also zero foreign transactions..Don't have an account but like the sound of the fee free card for balance transfer.
