Does anyone have a spending tracker tool?

Hi everyone,

After much lurking and just one post on the MFW forum, I've finally mustered up the confidence to dive in here!

Has anyone got a backwards looking spending tracker which I can download info from bank accounts and credit cards, type in the odd cash receipt and it will automatically catagorise payments and work out overall spending for the month? There are plenty of forward looking budget planners where all the information needs to be manually input, which is not really what I'm after. I've tried googling it and come up with plenty of US versions for household spending but there don't seem to be any UK versions.

Can anyone help please?
Thanks
Gefjun :)

How can something catagorise your spends automaticaly?

What I did for my parents accounts was use an old version of MSMoney.

Set the date back on the computer and enter all the data for regular payments they will get input automaticaly into the account and you fill in the gaps.

If you want detailed catagorization you will have to do this by hand I think.

It is not as bad as you might think you need to anlayse the data anyway(for it to be any use) so going through it all helps that process.

    Thanks for this.

By catagorise automatically, I mean that for example, all supermarkets spends are catagorised under 'grocery shop' (as the shop name would show on the bank account/cc statement). I know there's a really clever way to do this on Excel, albeit it needs a bit of programming in the beginning - I'm just not clever enough to do it....
