I signed up to home phone about 3 months ago due to the £25 rebate and the lower monthly call cost of £10 vs BTs £11.50. Just watch out for the following gotchs
1) They "lost" my DD details and so charged me £11pm for the first 3 months, they did say that they would refund the extra, but there was no refund on the latest bill.
2) As part of the set up you are asked what extra services you want to take, of which I selected none. The latest bill included £5.25 for caller display. There logic is that this was transfered across from BT and there T&Cs allow for this. In fact the service I was taking from BT was "BT Privacy at Home" which is free. They will not refund the fee because its allowed for in the T&Cs and they will not even refund the fee because the line does not even have the service enabled as BT seemed to disable it at transfer.
At the moment I'm pocketing the £25 and moving to another provider.
I forgot to add, their website will truncate your phone number if you enter it with spaces, so they will process the transaction with an invalid number until BT's system declares a problem.

The Post Office do not offer Caller Display for free - it's (as you've found out) one of their money-spinners.
Who are you going to get caught by now?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Looks like the basic service from ToucanTalk as they charge £9.99 for a monthly service and they state very clearly that they transfer no chargable services across. I only have a phone line as it has ADSL enabled on it (which is charged to the company I work for) so call charges and extra add no value for me.0 -
Was tempted to switch when they had the £50 cashback deal but never got round to doing it in the end. And with the issues I've had with the Post Office credit card I'm kind of glad I didn't0

Well I'm happy with the Post Office for now!
They clearly state that any extra services will be migrated from BT. I agree it's a moneyspinner but I get £50 off plus £30 cashback (paid very quickly) when I signed-up via Quidco so paying a little extra for caller display is worth it for now.0 -
I was in the post office to send letter last week when i saw some old ladies getting the hard sell on Post office home phone and credit cards.I think it is disgraceful to try to get more people to join the service in that way!0

Toucan have next to useless Customer Service, and are notorious for their cold calling.0
