I have just bought a new television and the audio connections at the back are either :-
1 red and 1 white input
or
digital input ? (fibre optic I think)
My old television had 4 external speakers attached to it. Each speaker has a white wire coming out of it which split into two at the end (one white, one black) which are entered into the eight clip-on type connections at the back of the television.
Is there any way I can utilise my old speakers with my new television via an adapter or something. (I don't want to getting into soldering).
Thanks,

You need audio outputs on the new TV. Do you have any of them ? What TV is it ?0

It sounds like your old TV had a surround audio processor and amplifier built-in and the new one does not.
What you describe as "red and white inputs" are probably stereo outputs for the front speakers, and they will probably be line-level, so can't drive speakers directly. What you describe as "digital input" is ~probably~ digital audio output, which you can connect to a surround sound processor, to which you could connect your existing speakers.
Richer Sounds sell AV receivers starting at £120 that should do the job.
I should add that there's a bit of guesswork above because you don't say what make/model of TV you have.0 -
Your old TV had amplifiers within to power the speakers. Your new one evidently doesn't.
Assuming the red & white phonos on the back are audio outputs, I would buy a Stereo or Home Theater multi-channel amplifier, feed the TV into this, and power the speakers from it.
What other equipment do you have? Freeview? Sky box? DVD player? PVR?
How you want to connect these may have some bearing on what you buy.0 -
It's a Panasonic TX-P42G20B and yes they are audio outputs (red and white) for use with RCA cable or digital audio out for use with an optical digital audio cable.
I am already using the available 2 two scarts. I'm using one of the 4 HDMI connections. I'm using the composite connection for the Wii.

Just looking for a way to re-use existing equipment as cheaply as possible.0
