  • I've been considering the 10ms iiyama 17 LCD from https://www.microdirect.com but I've read reviews suggesting the black isn't so great and is more of a grey (a problem with any LCD screen as they don't produce pure black, but some are worse than others). The contrast ratio is also at the low end, at 350:1.

How has the black been on the Digimate?

There needs to be a hunt (if there isn't already) for the cheapest LCD monitor! But quality is important too so maybe it should be the cheapest, but DECENT, LCD monitor!

Interesting that I should only just notice this message here...

I followed a thread on Rpoints to Aria's special offers today...the result being that I purchased one of these screens...however it wasn't exactly plain sailing and I'm left feeling quite concerned about Aria's customer service and pricing policies...

Heres a copy of a message I subsequently posted on Rpoints:-

    Hi mate...

    See here first http://www.aria.co.uk/specials.asp

(I ordered the 17" Arianet FastXS TFT Silv - 14ms one) - click on the image and the price is still shown as £152.69)

    Then I noticed this one...

    http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductInfoComm.asp?ID=16437 (it's the same isn't it?)

    Then finally...

I saw this one with the faster response rate - http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductInfoComm.asp?ID=16521

All this happened in the space of a few minutes - even so though it proves Aria's prices can differ...and a special might not always be so special afterall....

Of course it may just be an error....

The other thing which was weird is that the postage was more on the 14ms model???????????? work that out??????????

By the way was the price originally quoted in the thread above for the 16ms model?

The 12ms model does seem to have better contrast and brightness specs too I think....though I am no expert in TFT screens...
  • just to let you no as you already may have seen
on the day i posted the 16 and the 12 ms were same price 130
but now price has changed and 12ms is now 152 so gonna wait till goes back down again

Hi there... well I have just got my 12ms screen and very nice it is too...

Though it has one tiny dead pixel... :( but it is barely noticeable so not really a problem...

However...apart from the invoice I have how can I tell it is the right model... it looks like the slower models.... and no where on the box or specs (which only quote the dimensions anyway) does it mention 12ms...

Is there anyway else that I can check?... would the OSD be any different perhaps?

I recently bought a Digimate TFT from Aria thanks to another thread on this website.

At the time the same thing was happening with them. One day it was a 16ms, the next it was 12 then the next it was 16 again. The one I hoped I had ordered was a 12ms but, like you, when it arrived I had no way of checking. Someone on the same thread said they had spoken to someone at Aria and was told that when you register and put your serial number in it tells you for definite which one it is. Sure enough, when I did this it told me mine was 12ms.

Hopefully the Arianet ones will do the same.

    Hi Anic...

I have the registration/warranty card...but not much else... did you register the screen online then?

Mine is not branded Digimate or Aria either it's a Hanton.

Have you got any dead pixels on yours... was just watching a film that damn single green pixel is bloody annoying.... :(

Anic.. I see what you mean now... I've been to the Hanton website and registered the monitor... and it is indeed the 12ms...
That damn dead pixel is bugging me now though :(

I have also found the L-1718 on the Aria site now... same price as the 12ms 1715... but smaller case dimensions overall.. not much other difference though....

I dunno maybe it is just me being fussy... but all this messing about with Aria and confusion over different (or very similar) models and price confusion has left me feeling pretty unimpressed with them... I will not use Aria again.

I think confusion over the models (that may have been avoided if I had done more diggging around and the Aria site was clearer). On top of that I mailed customer services following my order - no response there... their sales line answered calls immediately.... then said I had to call Cust. Services... not surprising... the Cust Serv. line was ages before it was answered.

My original order still hasn't appeared on their website as cancelled... so I may be chasing a Credit Card refund there :(

Although I must admit delivery through Initial City Link was fast and reliable - I had to again ring Aria to get a consignment number to know where the monitor was during transit - this could have been mailed to me or included on the online order screen...

Ah well whats the point... I have the monitor now...and despite that GOD DAMN PIXEL it is very good... I will be sending Aria a link to this thread though... so they can get an idea of some of my gripes.... maybe they will improve things for future customers.

    Hi df

Luckily enough my screen doesn't have any dead pixels (well I don't think it has anyway - what size are dead pixels anyway?).

I must admit I had no problems dealing with Aria and probably wouldn't hesitate in using them again. On the other hand though I haven't had any cause for complaint or had to contact them so maybe my thoughts would be different if I had.

At the moment though I have been quite happy with my screen and the service they provided.

    Hi again Anic...

The pixel is small.. about the size of a text full stop character at 1280x1024 - on a light background it is hardly noticeable... however on a dark background it glows lime green and sticks out like a sore thumb...unluckily it is just left of centre and at eye height so you can't really miss it...

I just popped on a film.... and from about 3 metres the pixel is visible on dark/black grounds...any thing from say dark grey, blue...red...it is harder to notice.
