I'm not aware of any 'grants' as such but is it worth asking SS if they're aware of any funding that might help? I know that I would be allowed to use my personalised support budget to purchase a laptop, internet access etc. as these play a huge role in maintaining my independence.

DLA is designed to cover things like this. You can pick up a netbook for £150, could you not save up your HRC for a few weeks?

You could probably get a decent one on freecycle, ebay, etc.

I have this one for my travels, and this one is also highly recommended. Much less hassle than carrying a full size laptop!
