Are the ebay adminstrators bots?

I had an auction that was ending today, and just 2 hours before its ends, I receive an e-mail telling me that I had inappropriate links in it. All I had in the auction were links to a more detailed specification and picture links, and some thick skinned ebayer thought it would be fun to report me just for fun using the "Inappropriate Links" tool.
And the administrators if they are humans just removed the listing without even looking at it. Do they use bots or what? Its so annoying when Ebay has staff that can't be bothered to verify accusations.
And that individual who did it, makes me think it was someone who's got the same item up for sale, probably trying to reduce the number of available items so he/she can get a better price for his item!
Ebay has just become a pit for scammers, liars, thugs, and blind admins who click, click and click.

Someone will have repored you, and as you suggest it was probably a competitor. If your links breached their links rules then ebay removed the auction 'properly', if you feel you did not breach the rules then you can ask them to revisit their decision and they will allow you to relist.
However, do read the links regs as there are very few links allowed on ebay auctions.

Nope, none of them did breach the rules at all. I did a thorough review of the listings link they pointed me to, and I had only two kinds of links and both were allowed.
One to the motorola site which gave the proper detailed specifics of the phone.
And 3 other links to pictures of the item hosted on my webspace.
{I feel, that whoever did it thought the first link to a retailer site, hence the report OR most likely, wanted to end my auction so that he could get a better price himself}0 -
It's very frustrating when this sort of thing happens. I think you're right, it's probably a competitor who has reported you. Even if you do eventually convince eBay that you're right and they're wrong, by that time your competitor will have sold their item, and you may have lost potential customers.
For future listings, if you want to use pictures hosted on your own webspace, you might want to consider a tool like Turbo Lister which will allow you to add these directly to your listing without having to pay extra.0 -
yeah I've had this a couple of times too, i actually found someone was emailing my bidders telling them the watch i was selling was a replica, luckly one of the bidders asked me and i contacted him and looked through his auctions only to find an identical watch finishing 12 hours later than mine.
to the op, have you used a picture hosting service and then used HTML code in the auction format, just puts the pics directly into the description and you dont pay extra money on the pictures, i normally fill my auctions with pictures, definatley helps sell for more, and o course you can always add a footnote advising of your other simialr auctions with pictures.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -

Sorry if i was a bit ambiguous about the picture links, but they are <img src = " .. " > </img> links, so yes they reflect the pictures straight in my auctions. Though the footnote is a good idea, will definately implement that in my next auctions.0
