type half a word then rest appears elsewhere ?

Hi. hope someone can help.

if i am typing in either word or emails, if i delay more than a few seconds, then when i continue typing, the rest of the word i type will appear maybe a couple of lines further up - weird. then i have to go find it, backspace it out, type it again in the proper place, takes ages coz i have 2 proofread everything or i get very odd mails etc..

would u believe it, it hasn´t happened yet in this text, but it does it quite often, very annoying.

Why? i´m using a compaq laptop with XP (but comp was prev Vista) computer less than 1 yr old.

It happens when you tap the touchpad with the palm of your hand while typing (equivilent of clicking the mouse and cursor/typing will jump to wherever the mouse was), is often some way to disable this if your typing style is making it cause a problem

It might also happen when the pressure of your hands on the palm rest is too high. Some laptop are quite sensitive.

thanks very much. yes this is probably the reason, i am a touch-typist of many years but coz where my computer is placed - seat too low - my right hand overlaps the touchpad with not much height so i may be getting too close to it and just brushing the surface. will use a cushion to get me higher up and monitor the situation.

Fn + F10 to disable touchpad...Repeat to enable.

Something you may wish to try, is to go into the control panel, open the touchpad settings and unticking the option "tap to click". This will mean if you want to click somewhere with your cursor, you will need to use the physical touchpad button, which some people find more inconvenient, but it will eliminate these accidental clicks.

You've obviously enabled 'AutoBlasphemeConceal' which disguises swear words by leaving out random letters.

Go to Control Panel/Personalisation and untick 'ABC'.
