Qword and MyHeritage - how can I remove?

Hullo

I have a Dell Inspiron Laptop running Windows XP. Recently two "programs" have appeared that I did not invite and I cannot find a way of removing. Any suggestions gratefully received:

1. QWord
seems to be some sort of search engine, it keeps trying to be my default search engine (usually google) and often sets itself to be my homepage (without my permission

2. My Heritage
Also seems to be some sort of search engine, but comes up at the top of a new tab (IE7) and seems to have eaten all the thumbnail images that usually appear on a new tab

Thanks
