Fraudently activity on my internet banking (looking for a VPN service)

A few weeks ago, a fraudelent activity was performed on my internet bank account, where money was taken out of it. The bank has returned it back to me without any probs.
I had AVG Pro, Zonealarms, etc. installed on my PC but it appears as though SPYWARE was still put on my PC. I run MALWAREBYTES and AVG to identify and fix the spyware but they came back with nothing. In the end, I completely restored my PC to a version that I backed up six months ago and, fingers crossed, all seems okay now.
To give me even more protection, I'm now keen to find a VPN service that gives me encryption and extra privacy. Can anyone please recommend a VPN service. If possible, I would also like for it to be free. I also occassionally download files and also watch sport via myp2p.eu so it would be great if the VPN serive would let me do this as well.
Any help would be much appreciated ?

I had AVG Pro,
Think I found your problem, you need a non-junk anti virus that is vaguely more effective than a wet paper bag at keeping viruses off your PC.
Replace it with Avast, Avira or Microsoft Security Essentials, the windows firewall is effective, you should turn it on -zonealarm is likely not necessary0 -
I suspect that a lot more banking login details are divulged through phishing than from keyloggers although "I also occassionally download files" together with the desire for a VPN may have some bearing in this instance. Or then again maybe not.0

Rolling back to a previously saved image and relying on luck doesn't restore the security of the machine.
In what way do you think a VPN service would be more secure than using https://?0 -
I'm not quite sure what you're expecting the VPN service to do for you. I don't see how that would solve any of your problems. Like JasX said, dump AVG because it's rubbish these days. Try Avast! if you want a good free one. I would personally not use Zone Alarm and just use the built in Windows Firewall. Zone Alarm has a large footprint, or at least did last time I looked.0

Your bank should have a https: login page, so all traffic from your browser IS encrypted. Only a keylogger on YOUR computer can spy on your login details. So you have to make your PC safe. The first step would be not to work as an administrator. Then you are much less vulnerable against all kinds of threats.
A VPN wouldn't change anything. Your connection to your bank would be as secure as it would be without. You would have a VPN connection to a third party. What about the connection from the third party to your bank? There is no difference. On top of that a keylogger would still work the same way.0 -
If you have only restored it to conditions 6 months ago, would there be a chance the spyware was there then?
Run a spyware check (instructions written by alienRIK):
Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_ma..._anti_malware/
Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM FULL SCAN then click SCAN
Remove everything thats found (needs to be ticked)
Post the COMPLETE log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds
reboot
Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD THIS VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/2894/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)
After these steps, I think it would be good to change antivirus softwares too if possible but leave AVG for now as we don't want to cause more damage if AVG is somewhat working.0 -
you could download a linux boot CD (or put image on a usb flash drive) - and then just use that to boot up your machine when you want to use online banking.
Probably a little too much effort though..
I'd echo what everybody else here has said. MSE is a perfectly good virus scanner which is nice and unobstrusive.0
