Hi, hope someone can help with this. We have a Dell mini 9 which is just out of warranty and has decided to pack up : When I start the computer it comes up with a black screen and the following:
Intel UNDI, PXE-2.1 (build082)
For Realtek RTL810E/8102E PCI-E Ethernet controller v1.08 (080408)
PXE-E61 Media test failure, check cable
PXE-MOF: Exiting PXE ROM.
Operating system not found
It had windows XP installed with 1GB RAM and an 8GB SSD hard drive.
I have reseated the hard drive in case it had bad connections but no change.
Is it a case of a new hard drive and can I install a standard hard drive instead of the SSD as they seem very expensive, the netbook is used solely for web browsing and email.
Thanks for any help.

Dear kerfootuk,
Your machine is trying to boot but says it cannot find an operating system. Hopefully, there should be some software already loaded onto your machine to help you recover this situation, but if not, come back to me, and I will see what I can do further to help you.
Can you boot from a USB drive at all, and do you have one to hand?
I hope this helps

hi, try booting to bios (f1 or del power on), and check if drive is listed in devices. if not, the your drive is probaby toast.0
