i phoned sky today & got the 6 package 1/2 price along with Sky sports for £18 (6 months) and a reconditoned sky+ box for £49, free installation. After the 6 months i was told to phone up again to see what they can offer me.

As far as I know you can't, but have been looking at doing the same if its possible
  • I Have been with Sky for a few yeard now and am on the £18 package with an extra £10 for the Sky Plus function. Just got a call from them this morning offering the full package for an extra £2.50 a month for the next 3 months (Just have to remember to call at the start of dec to cancel it and hopefully get another offer)

When i phoned up sky a couple of months back, they told me i can pay a one of fee of £35 pounds. If i didn't want to be connected to a phone line, and information would go via the dish instead!

Wow this is great - I will give them a ring on this - I have unsightly wires all over the place and they are connected to a dodgy old telephone junction box. £35 to become wireless for me will be excellent value.

It is impossible for your satellite receiver to transmit any information back to the dish, not unless the £35 covers the cost of installing a satellite uplink station in your back garden. All they are doing is charging you the subsidy that would otherwise apply if you were to connect it to the phone line and use the interactive services. They will also set you up so that you can only access PPV movies by calling them.

If it is a box you already own, unless you use the interactive functions that dial up, buy PPV movies, or have a mirror subscription, just unplug the phone line.
