Grants for pensioners?

Not sure if any of you can shed any light.

I know pensioners who receive means tested benefits/pension credit etc can apply for warm front grants for heating.

Are there any schemes which specifically give grants for double glazing for the elderly?

Thank you :)

  • The funding options vary depending on your Local Authority. The Energy Saving Trust (EST) (0845 727 7200) should be able to advise what grants are available in your area..

Thank you both. I'll follow up for a browse on both counts.

I have had a quick look at the council concerned's website (Essex) but can't get a clear answer on what provisions they make, if any.

If anyone else has any additional thoughts, I'd love to hear them.

In case anyone north of the border also needs help, in Scotland we run a government funded programme that may have something to offer pensioners. The idea is to make homes cheaper and easier to heat. www.energyassistancepackage.com Won't include double glazing - but as Wee Willy Harris mentioned above, the Energy Saving Trust advisors will know of any other local schemes that can help in that respect. You can get them on 0800 512 012
