Disabled Car Tax and a family car swap

Hi, looking for assistance. My dad has a car with full tax exemption as he is disabled. I have a fully taxed car. My dad's car is a 5 seater and we have a 7 seater car. Extended family are visiting next month to stay with my dad and it would be sensible for my dad and I to swap cars for a 2 week period to prevent hiring an additional car. Any advice on how this affects the tax situation - how would we go about this without causing any issues with the tax on the car, ie I will need to drive the tax exempt car for a 2 week period. I can't officially be classed as a nominee as I will not be driving it for the purposes of assisting my dad - we live a few hours apart. Is there a way for example for purchasing tax for short period of time e.g.1 month for the car which is going to be cheaper than hiring a car. The dvla website is not helpful and I wont get chance to phone them til next week - has anyone found a way around this that's not putting either party at any risk?

Is your dads car a Motability car? If so, then no one is allowed to drive it apart from the people named on the RSA insurance.
If its private then I'm not too sure, but i'm guessing that as long as both cars are insured and both drivers are insured to drive other cars then it should be ok...?

The only way round this (to comply with the law) is to tax it then revert to exempt and get a refund of the tax. This will entail getting the V5 replaced and replaced again !! You probably won't have the V5 back in time to change it again though so will probably cost 2 months tax.

Just swap them and make sure you have insurance to drive the relevent vehicle. Your father in particular may not be covered to drive yours on his policy even though it is F/C.

It is the correct answer, it gets asked every now and again and it seems that there is no mechanism to allow you to do this other than the above posters suggestion. ;). With that hassle I can only guess what most folks do.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
