funding for academic research (MSc)

I have had a browse through the search function but can't find what i am looking for.

Does anyone have any experience of places where funding can be found to pay for the completion of a thesis as part of an MSc.

As it is a piece of research I am wondering if there are any funding bodies that may cover this as the research can possibly be published and/or used to benefit practice.

pretty much all MSc funding is only associated with people who are accepted to do a 1+3 PhD..... anything that is available will be from your department, or require a year out to work and save, or a career development loan. also, there will only be one or two main research funding bodies that you could even potentially approach for any given area and they will depend on the area you're planning to work in.

My PhD was funded via an industrial sponsor but a lot of people doing MSc and EngD etc were sponsored by ESPRC.
