My issue was sorted but should I be furious with Apple?

So after all of the stress for weeks trying to get my photo's from my iPhone without emailing them across somewhere else it seems that all I needed to do was to remove the passcode from my iPhone!!
There is no mention of this in the documentation or support forums at Apple.
Is this just my phone? Would anyone with an iphone be willing to test the theory?
If you have a passcode on your phone connect it to your computer and see if you get the following icon in your pc's 'My Computer' file:
If not could you remove your passcode and see if it then appears.
I would be really grateful.
Should I just deal with this glitch or is there a reason for it?

Well I don't get an icon named "Donkey !!!!!!" like in your picture, but my iPhone appears in My Computer, works fine for me and I have a code on my iphone, no need to remove it, type it in or anything. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0

Really sorry if that's offensive by the way. That's actually a bluetooth device that was badly named by a friend. I'll remove the photo.
Do you think I should contact Apple about this then?0 -
So you were connecting to your iPhone via Bluetooth? Pretty much every bluetooth device in existence needs a passcode for access - usually 0000 as a default.
User error, not a problem with Apple. Any mobile phone is the same.0 -
I plug my iPone into my Mac, Aperture fires up then I choose the location where I want to copy the photos over to.
Every single thing can't be documented.0 -

Well it didn't offend me, but some people might I suppose. It made me laugh to be honest.
As for the iphone, you might try a mac specific help forum, including the ones at Apple's own support site to see if its something simple. But if you get no joy then yeah I'd definitely pursue this with Apple - securing your device like that is a fundamental operation, I've always used it with all the smartphones I've had and not had the problem you describe with any of them.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -

I thought the bluetooth device was a different, unrelated device entirely, a red herring in terms of the OP's problem. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
You're right roberto. I was merely explaining that the potentially offensive file name was the name for another device (Bluetooth)
Hammyman User error on your part, there's nothing wrong with the forum.
Diable, thanks for response. I should have mentioned I'm on a Pc running Vista. It's literally a case of: if I have my passcode on my phone then whilst the phone is recognised for syncing, it does not appear in my computer for me to access it for the removal of pictures. The minute I turn off the passcode and repeat it works fine.
So is this a software or hardware fault? It would be great to hear if anyone has had or dmoes not have the same issue and then I can pick it up with Apple accordingly.

Just spoke to one of the other guys where I work and we've found something interesting having a play with our iphones - on both a mac and a pc it appears to work as I described when the phone is paired with the PC in itunes already, but if you just plug it in to a random passing PC then you do need to have typed in the code on the phone - that seems reasonable from a privacy point of view, and suggests if you're having this problem on your PC and you've paired it with that pc in itunes then its a software error - the pairing isn't quite right...If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0
