Hello,

I really hope some one can help me. I am trying to fill in an application form but its a PDF file. Is the only way to fill this in by hand or is there a way I can write on it on the laptop instead?

I have made so many mistakes already and I need to fill in 4 application forms.

Please help me!!!

Almost certainly you will have to print it and fill in by hand. Most people just have the software to read PDFs not change. Also most are protected from change anyway.

:p You've got to print it out and fill it in by hand. You can't fill them in on screen as PDFs are generally designed to be tamper-proof.

First at all, it would have been better to describe your problem shortly in the subject instead of "urgent please help". Everybody comes here for help, and it's "urgent" in most cases too..

Some forms allow you to fill in the form in Acrobat Reader. But you can't save it, you will only be able to print it. As soon as you close the Acrobat Reader everything you typed in will be lost. That's why it's called Acrobat Reader ;)

If the form doesn't allow you to fill it in, then it's meant to be like this. Nothing you can do but printing it out and filling everything in by hand.

Does it really make a difference whether you fill it in on your laptop or by hand? I would think it takes you about the same time...

I have to fill in 4 different applications each 19 pages, each one would need the same sort of information, hence making it quicker on the computer instead of re writing the same information by hand which takes me longer. Thanks anyway

    Try using this
tHAT LOOKS REALLY GOOD BUT i CAN'T FIND AN 'UNDO' BUTTON if I make a mistake. ?
ps Sorry about the CAPS, it was on by mistake.
  • tronator is right, even the full v9 pro won't let me open protected docs, it's a DRM issue.

If I was generating these doc's and charging for them they either pay me megga £££ and they own the rights [ and are interactive ] or I make sure no one can open it, or if they do, I can sue them.

Sorry I_am_mad, but I doubt you will find a way of doing what you want. If it's an application for employment there is no way round it if it's a~n~other kind of application there are other kinds of acceptable response.

    Hope this helps

What I used to do was:

open the PDF in Acrobat Reader
Select almost the whole page with the picture select tool and Copy
Go to Word and Paste it in as an Image. Resize it to almost full page and send it to the back (right-click, picture, behind text)
Then type over the picture in Word. Something like Courier 10pt usually fairly effective.

If you do it right the application form at the back may be a bit fuzzy but it should be clear enough. And if they don't make their forms computer completable what do they expect you to do?
