not really. If its going to cost you money in order to cancel the policy mid year just leave it running and make sure that it doesn't auto renew when its up.

(I am assuming you either have new insurance or have got rid of the car)

If its just £40 then that is very good. Mid term cancellation rates typically mean you are still liable for some premium as well on top of that i.e. if 6 months gone, then you need to pay 8 months premium (if monthly you will owe them, if annual they will take into account on the refund).

Rather than cancel it and pay a £40 charge, why not choose to not renew it. You dont get charged when you dont renew.

They can't charge you for not renewing.

Write a letter to them sending it to them by recorded delivery informing them that you are not renewing your insurance after this current term expires immediately.

If they then send you a back letter stating they are going to charge you come back to the forum and start a new thread.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)

as the above poster said they can only do that for mid term cancellations. They cannot force you to renew with them for a new year or pay fees.

Notify them you will not be renewing and find yourself a new quote!
