Gifts - the DFW way....

Here goes.....

CHRISTMAS

There I said it, don't start throwing things at me! I know it's still August but I want to start planning now so I know everything is sorted!

Has anyone come up with any really good ideas on what to buy/make for friends/relatives for the dreaded 'C' word this year? Thought we could have a thread with some gift ideas from people because I'm stuck! The only one I can think of is a photo album filled with old and new photos for my Dad because he is moving out to S.Africa this year.

Any suggestions?

I know a family who postpone Xmas and have theirs in March, that way they get stuff in the sales, food is reduced for the Xmas dinner, Xmas cards are way cheaper. Sounds silly and yes they are mad but it works for them and there kids love it. Its great going round on their boxing day with their Xmas lights on in full view.
  • Hmm! Can't really do that. Don't think my Mom/Dad/Sisters/Mates/Boyfriend would agree to it!

Think the photo album idea for your Dad is a great idea! maybe it could be a kind of memory book, like with photos, postcards of places he has been/liked in the UK...

I've started getting stuff together for Christmas already, so i wont have to throw anything at you! I have all my christmas cards and am working next on wrapping paper!

But, I havent a clue what to get my bf..the man who has everything and has expensive tastes!!

Hi lazy, on the Moneysaving Old Style Forum, they've been talking about Christmas for ages!!

DH and I have also been thinking about Christmas a lot recently - less than 4 months to go now - and have been planning ahead to make the time as spend-less as possible!!

I have £10 in M and S andmore rewards which I will use for presents (hopefully they;ll do 3 for 2 again this year!), I'm well on my way to 2 Boots pigsback vouchers which will help me get lots of 3 for 2 presents. And the other day we decided that with our tesco vouchers we will 'buy' our friends vouchers for meals out. They'll equal £10 vouchers but we will only have spent £2.50 of our clubcard vouchers!!

In my family, well my Mum and Dad certainly, we are going to have a £5 each spend limit, so that will cut the spending down quite a bit!

It would be good to have a DFW Style Christmas thread so we can all share ideas!!

  • i am making all my family and friends snow globe money boxes/keepers all from recycled stuff :j and putting some money in them ready, thats it :rotfl: i aint doing christmas this year :p
  • Good to know I'm not the only one to start planning! Luckily, I've only got 2 sisters, mom, dad, boyfriend and bestmate to buy for. Me and all my other mates just go out and buy each other a drink instead!
I was thinking of a girlie magazine subscription for one sister, but I will have to buy that nearer the time methinks!
