To cut a long story short i brought a BluRay DVD player and i brought it based on what it said on the website. That this specific player was wifi ready and had applications, like lovefilm, facebook and iplayer. All of which are advertised on the box when it arrived.
First, its not wifi enabled, although ready, you need to purchase a separte samsung dongle to connect online. Done and sorted. Connected and updated and then i went to mess with the applications.
LoveFilm says it will be avaliable in MAY. Its june, all updates are there and it is not avaliable.
Facebook is there and says it will be avaliable in April, yet its now June and again all updates are installed and so on.
and last of all their is no BBC iplayer, it just doesnt exsist, even though its adverised as ready like all the others... the one reason i brought the Bluray player especialy for.
Surely im not the only person having this problem with the model, or any other model

You are not alone!
I bought the BD-C5500 back in April largely due to the heavily touted Lovefilm access. I queried the release date with Samsung back in mid May and was told that it would be operational by the end of the month.
It has been working on newer Samsung TVs with Internet@TV capability since about the 17th May but still no sign of it on Blu-Ray players.
No word on iplayer as far as I can tell0 -

I have had enough of the lack of info from Samsung and BBC about this. I bought my player back in April where it was clearly advertised as having the software, in fact it is still being advertised by samsung on their website as having it. I would like to compile a list of owners who bought the player with the impression that it had iPlayer on it out of the box and forward to Trading standards, ASA and BBC Watchdog. Please PM me your Name and Postcode and date of purchase and I'll get the ball rolling.
I have been on other forums too looking for owners who were mis-sold this device0 -
Samsung have a bit of a track record here. For example, Internet@TV development now only appears to be being done for the 'C' series TVs and developments such as iPlayer are not being made available to 'B' series TV owners, despite the promise of ongoing Internet@TV development when sold. I've no doubt they'll orphan 'C' series owners when the next series launches. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

I bought this device in a few months ago, eagerly awaiting the implementation of iPlayer and Lovefilm, neither of which seem to be anywhere near arriving at all. It also seems that getting info from Samsung is like extracting the proverbial blood from a stone. Something really needs to be done about this as I would have gone and bought the Sony equivalent if I'd have known it was gonna be this much of a problem!0
